Nuccio Ordine
Giardini del Palazzo Duchi di Santo Stefano
Lectio magistralis by Nuccio Ordine.
From Ovid’s Metamorphoses to Da Ponte-Mozart’s Così fan tutte – via Ariosto’s Orlando furioso and Cervantes’ Don Quixote – the desire to test women’s fidelity kills not only love but also the lovers themselves. Metamorphosis and disguises at the service of lethal jealousy.
Nuccio Ordine, philosopher, fellow of Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies and of Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung, has been Visiting Professor in international research institutes and universities. An honorary member of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, he has received four honorary degrees.
