The Taobuk International Book Festival and the Taormina Arte Sicilia Foundation, in collaboration with the magazine Abitare, launch the 2022 edition of “The space of the Arts” competition, for the construction of a small urban architecture to be introduced in Piazza IX Aprile like a space in space.
The artifact, on the one hand, must express the values and international dimension of the Festivals, and on the other, reaffirm the strong link with the places and characters of the city of Taormina. The object of the competition is, then, a relational structure that activates a poetic dynamic with the arts and the city; a device capable of enriching urban space with meaning by giving it an additional beauty.

SCOPE
We require the design of a spatial structure that tells the relationship between architectural space and the arts – a three-dimensional poster that testifies to the presence of the Festivals that will take place in Taormina – and that is useful for the development of the events related to them.
The structure can accommodate a maximum of 6 people and will be intended for users of the square who will be able to read, watch, listen, dialogue, immersed in an intense experience of dialogue with the arts. It will also be used for some events planned by the Taobuk Festival and the Taormina Film Fest (presentations, meetings, interviews, performances).
The small architecture, in addition to being a representative object of the Festival contents, will have to be articulated for an extension of about 20 square meters and dialogue with the mobile installations that will be created on the occasion of the Taobuk Festival and the Taormina Film Fest (red carpet, iconic writings, etc).

The selected projects will be published on the magazine Abitare.
The winner (or the winning group) will be involved in the realization of the work and will be invited within the framework of Taobuk Event, to take part to the special panel to be held with the participation of prominent personalities of the architecture and literature world.
